I use Wordpress via HostGator for my blog and want some feedback and suggestions before I consider upgrading my SiteLock account to the paid membership.

The real question should be, how much security do you want? Upgrading will give you better security. You get what you pay for.

I want enough to make my viewers' experience and my work safe, clean, and held to a high standard regarding security. With that being said, do you have a recommendation, sir ?

It's been a few years since I've used Wordpress and I am in an enterprise web shop, but I suggest Sucuri.

Lisa, how do you compare Sucuri against Sitelock and Cloudfare ?

I don't know enough about the other two to properly comment. I'm sorry.

Make sure you keep your plugins patched. WordPress is getting better about its vulnerabities but plugins can lead to a reverse shell on your web server real fast. Also, if there are any plugins you're not using, just get rid of them. Not exactly on topic but just my advice.
