Of all the movies about submarines, carriers, 18th century ships, etc, what do you think is the one movie that is closest to real-life than all the others? Why?

If you are talking submarines, it is "Down Periscope". Take Das Boot and Down Periscope and you have an accurate depiction of submarine life.

I've never been on a ship, so I can't say, but since my father was in the gator navy (on an AKA and LPD), and my son will be assigned to a LHD in September, I have to throw "Away All Boats" out there.

SEND KAWALSKI IN! I just watched the movie for the first time since I was a kid. Having been on subs this movie made me ROFL .... literally. Wife had to throw ice water on me and spray me down with a hose.
