When i came home, or back to my city. Living in my car with my dog, people came together and got my dog and i something to eat. Blankets and clean clothes. Helped me get set up at my local va and got me help through the system. Which i have been trying to pay it foward ever since.

Unlike in the early 70's when I returned from Vietnam, now almost everyone tells you "Thank you for your service." They mean well and it is very much appreciated, but when a small child comes up to me and conveys the exact same message . . . it means SO MUCH MORE to me. After all, Vietnam is like "ancient history" to those "little guys."

I had a stroke in Nov 22. A friend of my dads was informed and took the initative and flew to my home to not only care for me but also kept the standards in my home as if it were hers. She never asked if i wanted this she just did it

I have amazing people in my life. This is mostly due to being a thoughtful person… it’s comes back around to ya. My coworkers threw me a surprise bridal shower. What made it interesting was I only invited a few people from work to the wedding (just my closest coworkers). My manager at the time knew of the wedding and still decided to throw a shower Inspite of not being a guest. I was really surprised. Most people are nice ,but not all are thoughtful. Those are the ones you must keep around.

One time, I got a milogram due to a back injury. my good friend, Connie, was with me from the beginning and sat up with me while I had to lay flat on my back. She was a nurse, but she took care of me as if she was related to me. I wound up with the worst headache I've ever had in my life. If I sat up, or even turned my head, I would become violently ill. She would just clean me up, and rub my back or my arm. Another group of ladies helped me too. I finally was able to sit up. I had only had bed baths for 3 weeks. We only had a shower where we lived. There was no way I could have stood in that shower. Our neighbor offered her tub to us, even though she was at work. The ladies bathed me, washed my hair, and wheeled me back to my house. When I got back home, Connie had changed my sheets, and made me some food. Another lady brushed my hair. I have never felt such unconditional love in my life as I did during that time. I will forever be grateful to those wonderful women.

WHEN I WAS LIVING IN OKLAHOMA, I HAD A MILOGRAM DONE. I GOT THE WORST HEADACHE I HAVE EVER HAD. I COULDN'T MOVE MY HEAD WITHOUT THROWING UP. IT LASTED FOR 3 SOLID WEEKS. MY FRIEND CONNIE TOOK CARE OF ME. A COUPLE OF OTHER WOMEN HELPED HER. CONNIE STAYED WITH ME AFTER THE PROCEDURE. THEY GAVE ME BED BATHS, FED ME, AND DID IT WITH LOVING CARE AND COMPASSION. I WAS LIKE AN INFANT. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO SIT UP. WE DIDN'T HAVE A BATHTUB AT OUR PLACE OF RESIDENCE. THE NEIGHBOR ALLOWED US TO USE HER BATHTUB SO I COULD SOAK. THEY ALSO WASHED MY HAIR. THEY GOT ME TO THE NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE IN AN OFFICE CHAIR, AS I COULDN'T WALK WELL YET, DUE TO WEAKNESS. I WANT YOU TO KNOW I WILL NEVER FORGET THE LOVE AND KINDNESS THEY SHOWED ME DURING THE WORST PAIN I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.

Last week a person stopped by and told me some persons hit and killed my dog on the road. Then a few days ago that same person dropped off a gift certificate and was remorseful for the dead dog. That was the nicest thing anyone has done for me and my family

My younger brother bought me a new tire when in driving to hiss home a tire was shredded. He also rplaced the old tire with the new one on my car. I am a senior veteran with multiple health issues looking for senior housing.
