What's the worst insect to be bitten or stung by?

I hate ticks. I recently had one attach to my small toe somehow in an older shoe. It has quickly become painful and swollen. That will teach me to wear socks! What is the worst insect you can be - or have been bitten or stung by? What are the effects or symptoms? What is the remedy?

I was bitten by a Brown Recluse while at Fort Jackson, SC FTX back in 2000. I was sleeping in my shelter half the night prior. When we got up to do our foot march back to the barracks, I was suddenly itching. Bumps started to form on my left forearm from my elbow to my hands. You could see clear to yellow liquid coming out also. The DS quickly got me over to the TMC. I was given steroids (cream/pills). I still have the mark where I had a hole in my wrist. Lets just say my parents weren't to happy when it came to my graduation day! I went to AIT and the DS thought I was crazy looking...since I had my left arm covered like a burn victim. True Story
