It's been a few years since I've been back to Ft Jackson, but loved my TDY trip there. Check out the MWR link...

If you go off post, there's a pretty big shopping complex with a movie theater a few miles down the road. I think it's called "Sandhills Shopping Center" or something similar.
Immediately off post is a Books A Million that has pretty decent WiFi. Join their membership club ($20 for a year) and that gets you unlimited access to their WiFi. I would go there on the weekends and catch-up on E-Mail, websurfing, etc. the only thing is that you have to get there early, as there are only a few electrical outlets, and they get taken up quickly. There is also a Five Guys burger joint-- if you haven't had Five Guys burgers, you need to go get one or two or more.
Charleston is a good weekend trip, if you're up for beach type areas.

Take the 50 minute drive west to Augusta too. Lots of fun stuff to do there as well!
