I plan to be a better listener - Listen to Understand not to rebutt and to speak to be understood as well - effective communication with compassion and wisdom.

For my family’s sake, I need to be a man after God’s own heart. I’ve been selfish for too long. It’s time I manned up and put God first in my life. Everything else will fall right into place.

I feel like my annual reolution still holds for this year.
I resolve to be a better person to my friends and family.
I also want to continue performing healthy habits that will extend my life longer.

My New Year's resolution for 2023 is to live my best life in every area of my life! I'm going to pursue dreams that i had put to sleep for too many years; going to make my health a priority with regular checkups and major life changes in what i eat and exercising; i'm going to learn to love again and start by loving myself.

Reaching my goal weight.  After having actively been in the VA's !MOVE Prog for a couple of years, I recently had VSG surgery at a VA facility.  I've already lost 30 lbs, and have another 65 to go in order to reach the realistic goal which I've set for myself.  I'd rather set a reasonable goal with an opportunity to surpass it, rather than an unrealistic one and potentially set myself up for a discouraging outcome.

For myself, success isn't just about the numbers.  It's about letting go of what had been dragging me down to a very low point in my life.  Once I did that with the VA's help, I began to see how wonderful life can be and that honoring oneself is the beginning of paying it forward.
I'm now in the Whole Health prog and am hoping to teach a class so that my fellow Veterans can learn relaxation through art expression.

To better myself by spending more time with my family and not allowing my job to suck the life out of me and them. To be the best husband and father I can be. Just to attempt to be half the dad my father is.
