What's your connection to Bethany? How can we create a stronger ties between Swede Alums in the military and BC?

With enrollment varying over the years from 450 to 900, Bethany College is a relatively small liberal arts college. Since the mid-80s, Several Swede Alums have attained the rank of Colonel or Captain (O-6) in the armed forces. Considering how Bethany Alums perform in coaching, business, and civic leadership, it is not surprising to see their successes in the military. I gained a strong sense of service and commitment at Bethany. I learned about teamwork and loyalty. I believe the college and alumni are missing an opportunity to connect our veterans and our current and potential future students.

Pictured here is my Swede classmate and good friend COL Pat Wempe taking command of 500th Military Intelligence Brigade last summer. Over my career I've run into several Swede alums and have run into several O-5 and above over the past 5 years. Additionally, I've met several enlisted Soldiers, all doing great things, whether serving in the USMA band, medics, or intelligence. Makes me wonder how many are out there serving?
