SGT (Join to see) - There are guys that are 250lbs but have a lot of fat, just my opinion that 220-225 muscle however your body type would be great. I'm 6'1" and usually 170-185, I got up to around 205 before. Target weight is for "tape and weight" isn't it? And then it would ask what guidelines in comparison to ability to perform tasks and the parameters of height and weight. I'm no expert and just think that weights like Tyson in his prime are ideal for males.

SPC James Harsh - I would disagree on that, especially for Infantry MOS, you can be too muscle bound where it becomes a hinderance. Also, had a amatuer bodybuilder or two in my Infantry units when I was in service. They are not so good about balancing muscle development. One looked great above the waist but didn't balance the leg development and fell out of Company and BN runs (he was former 82nd Airborne Grenada Combat Vet too).....also seemed to be top heavy. One roomie going down the same path, was built like a football player and it seemed his development was balanced. So he was good for loading down like a pack mule for ruck marches but again if running were involved with weight on his back, he could not hack it. I could not figure out how in the hell I was outperforming him, he could easily kick my ass if the march was slow and steady just not mixed with running (weird). Long story short what you state is conventional wisdom (more muscle the better) but I think your going to find in practice that without cardio muscle sucks, without flexibility exercises on a regular basis, muscle limits rotation and reach in some cases and cramps, also I think the increase in caloric demands of heavily muscled males causes issues sometimes when logistics fall behind and your down to MRE rationing..........although that should never happen but when it does........they are the first to snivel about being hungry.

I was 6 foot 5 inches tall and 218-222 during my enlistment. Almost at MAX per the Army charts..........so I escaped the tape stuff.......which I always felt was a joke in a way, no way was the Army ever doing the tape measure right back in the 1980's with some of the obese people passing it.

Also note that when you visit a Civilian Doctor and ask them for an ideal weight for ideal height chart, the civilian weight figure is usually 5-7 lbs lighter than what the Army uses officially. That's if your physician has one. Most tend to agree with the patient that they are fine on weight to avoid offending them if the patient is generally within the right weight range.

I think its pretty self-explanatory , weight number of where someone wants you to be at.

For me, target body weight is a weight that is healthy, but also achievable. Too many people make unrealistic goals and basically set themselves up for failure. But having an achievable goal would help with losing or gaining at a healthy rate.

staying within 5-10 lbs of whatever the weight max is for my height(based on USAF standards). If I'm not lifting to bulk up then my weight should be within 5lbs at all times. I am well under 6ft tall so I shouldn't be anywhere close to 180-200lbs(in my opinion)

In that case, if you're not competing then whatever weight is easiest to maintain within the health goals you are pursuing. I don't like my weight to fluctuate more than 2-3 lbs.

That depends. For strength days I want as much weight as I can correctly rep X 5-6 reps for 3-4 sets. I don't want to walk away tired. Other days I want to be worn out so less weight but more reps.

I was speaking of "body-weight". I'll amend the question.
