Now, you don’t expect me to give away the coordinates to my secret fishing spot do you? Lol. I enjoy fishing at any location. Henry David Thoreau said it best, “ Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”

My favorite fishing spot is at Duck Lake in Calhoun County, Michigan. Some of the best Largemouth Bass I have caught has been on this lake. Best place to catch them is near and North of the large dropoff that goes East to west across the lake. I like to go out in the crack of dawn to fish because that is the best time of day to catch them. Rainy or cloudy days are the best to catch these monsters. Here's a picture of the one I caught a few weeks ago.

Favorite fishing spot is Pickwick Dam. Above or below the dam is great fishing for multiple species. Favorite cast was catching top water stripers below the dam. Man those fish fight hard when you catch them in the boils.

Years and years ago when I was in college I was coop'ing with the Corp of Engineers. We had to do annual inspections on all the lakes down I-55. Arkabutla, Sardis etc. When we notify the local manager of the inspection they shut the flow off an at the bottom it pools up. They allow by random draw 30 or so people in that water at a certain time and the only thing you can bring is a dip net. People come out of there with 3 pounders all the way up to 12 and 13 and it is funny to watch. One time when we were going in under the spillway there was a three foot deep hole with water in it. One of our guys looked in there, reached his hand in and brought out an 8 pounder that was trapped in that hole after the water was cut off. I know what you are talking about when it comes to spillway fishing....especially at Pickwick...have a lot of friends that fish up there.
