IMHO this was probably the most read and visited post of all times on RP. Personally, I read them all and it took hours to get to the end, but what a fantastic trip!

My favorite spot is the Grand Mesa on the Wild Western Slope of Colorado. Nearly 300 lakes to fish and only a 15 minute ride from my home.

There used to be a nice place in Old Town on Chicago's near north side, where I would go with my pole and try to lure one or two (if I got lucky) of the Lightly Browned Loose Moral species. Got careless one trip and almost got hooked myself!

Seriously. I have fished at a number of great spots. Kenia Peninsula, Alaska, The Potholes, WA., Clear Lake, CA but most of these were "back in the day." Don't know now.
As a footnote, there were a number of nice lakes on Ft Richardson when I was there (1978-1982) that usually provided good fishing. However, they also provided Black Bears.
I am going to Southern Colorado next Thursday to meet my son and fish Valliecito Lake, north of Durango, CO. I'll let ya'll know how I do.
