Ah yes, "Jody calls," we've all heard them, marched to them, run to them, or called them out in a motivated tone; so, what are some of your all time favorites? As this is an inter-service thread, we want to hear from all of you--Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Reserve of each of the above, and the National Guard--so what are your favorite service-specific cadences, and do you have an old standby or trusty go-to cadence? Perhaps it was one that was once popular but somehow fell out of use, or maybe an just an old standard or unique favorite. Please feel free to share any photos, videos, sound files, stories, associated memories, and/or anything else needed to help to tell your story. I'm sure that an old classic or two comes to mind, so "one, two, three, four-or... this is what we're here for-or..." Boot Camp, just opened Stuart Mesa (later Edison) rifle range with only 2 series there. Foggy morning, road guards out with lanterns going ding, ding. We could hear but not see other platoons due to the fog. Then our DI starts to call cadence to the Marine Corps Hymn. Dead silence except for our DI calling cadence and the sound of our boots as one. That sound of one boot slapping the pavement and the Marine Corps Hymn in cadence and I still choke up thinking about it to this day.

I remember hearing "yellow ribbon" on the way to the PX in basic training. While we were waiting to go back, the drill sergeant asked if we were "thin skinned pansies" or if we were "real men." He said, "If you're a real man, say hooah!" You know how we responded. So he led us in the other version of that cadence, "whips and chains." I only heard it once, but it remains my favorite just because of the shocked looks I get when I recite it.
