My go to mental health reset is either going for walk outside. Or taking a long hot bath.

It used to be exercise, now it is relaxing on the couch and reading a book. There may or may not be a glass of wine involved.

It used to be a good workout, but now being able to sit down with cup of coffee and a book to read. Going for a scenic drive with my 4yo, and listening to ABC songs (LOL) is sometimes relaxing, but I have no choice

My resets have had to evolve over the years.

I’ve always reset by heading out to those special, quite places where I can relate to nature. As more people did the same, trails got wider and litter increased which bummed me out until I started picking up around my special places.

Doing that made me realize it’s like democracy itself, if you don’t vote and take care of it, you are likely to lose it.

Then the wet spots along the trail turned into big eroding mud holes. So now I keep a ten pound bag of gravel ready for whenever things get to me at home. Gravelly stepping pads help keep people on the trail.

What’s next? Having learned to identify the plants and how nature works, I see alien invasive plants that don’t feed the native animals, are increasing in the area. I can cut off seed heads to slow their spread, but pulling them out will require getting permission from park officials. That’s a new skill set for a loner like me.

I think finding ways to “Make lemonade out of lemons” has helped me focus on things other than my personal problems to a greater degree than otherwise. It’s been a win-win situation for me and nature.

Cutting the grass on the Sunday morning, and enjoying a nice tall glass of tea.

My connection to The Lord God Almighty through The Holy Spirit! The Lord directs me towards exercising, including a few yoga poses pictures that I have on my wall and that I downloaded from online! Yoga is pretty good exercise can temporarily help with back pain!
