Looks like and sounds like stolen valor:
The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 amends the federal criminal code to rewrite provisions relating to fraudulent claims about military service to subject to a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both an individual who, with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit, fraudulently holds himself or herself out to be a recipient of any medals.
He was trying to get tangible benefit. I think he should pay the fine and instead of jail be ordered to work with disabled vets in one form or fashion starting off with the words "I apologize and lied to everyone" instead of his foggy memory crap......
This should humble him and set him straight. Oh and never again be on television as any type of reporter.

Same thing that happened to Hillary. We accept he lies, the liberals continue to support him, accept his half hearted apology, move on with our lives knowing not to believe anything he says.

There is really nothing that can be done. However, he needs to resign and no longer work for any news company. He should have to donate money to the Wounded Worrier Project to help the soldiers that were actually wounded do to actual combat that they seen.

That's up to his current employer and if he is fired or let go then it will be up to another employer to decide if they wish to employ him. I cannot understand why he felt it necessary to fabricate and/or exaggerate. I am also a forgiving man and will never say that he should never work in news again or continue to make a living. That's up to his current employer and/or a future employer to determine. I never really watched him to begin with so I have no skin in the game. Integrity violations are very hard to overcome and whether he can ever gain that back is the question. Now if we are saying that we need honest news people then we are kidding ourselves about what used to be news and is now opinion pieces and entertainment. Most of us can filter through it and check multiple sources to find anything close to the truth to begin with but many take it for face value which is scary

He's a news journalist, it may have been wrong but not an uncommon level of integrity.

I think he has been exposed as a liar and the network should fire him because he cant be trusted to tell the truth.

He should have to go back on the air and suffer the humiliation of facing his audience knows that everything he says may or may not be true.
