The VR&E program helps Veterans with service-connected disabilities prepare for, find, and maintain suitable careers that accommodate their disabilities. VR&E provides support to develop job skills, pursue a career, or get accommodations to perform a job

Through the VR&E program, a Counselor will help you decide what works best for you; based on your interests, abilities, and determines the best COA to maximize goals for employment; and you can meet with counselors through telecounseling, for personalized, interactive assistance regardless of where you live.

VR&E pays for training programs, provides a living stipend, and pays for any required equipment needed to perform a job.

Listen to the procedure you counselor tells you and DO NOT WAIT to do what they say. I Just found out there is a time limit after you ETS or Retire to take advantage of this benefit. Good Luck to you.

SrA John Monette - Please, if you did that recently, send me the references in the regulation. I have ben retired for over 15 years. I applied for this Voc Rehab about 6 months ago and was told that I was no longer eligible because I had waited too long. If this is incorrect, you may have just made my week!
I am in school to become a Counselor for PTSD Vets. John, I sat for too long and said "Why doesn't someone do something about the 22 a day killing themselves"
THEN.....I woke up and realized...I AM SOMEBODY
I quit my job, went back to school full time and am devoting myself 100% to this goal, and with working with Civil Air Patrol Cadets....
I HAVE TO spend the rest of my life helping Our Brothers and sisters ... I can not be happy otherwise! AND I am lucky that my wife, daughter and son agree with me and are supporting this move.
