One would think this is a simple question but it’s truly complex. I honestly believe more research needs to be done on the generation you wish to attract. The basics are always there financial security, job satisfaction etc. but perhaps highlighting/making some changes within the military will attract them. They seem to be more in tuned to how mental health impacts them. They also seem to care deeply about engaging in a career path that won’t “break them down to build them up.” Emphasis needs to be placed on how serving can transfer into the civilian sector. How can they get employment following the military? How will they be cared for? How will it benefit them afterwards? They see the complaints and conditions of veterans who aren’t doing well… why would they want to sign up if that’s their future? More spotlight on veterans who are successful would be beneficial as well. Just my 2 cents.

When they go into the military they have a vision for a future be it with the military or learning a trade. But sometimes they are injured either physically or mentally. When they come back home help them gain another vision for their life/future. So they know they are making the right choice.

The Military has one duty and that is to defend the United States. To do that it requires Soldiers Airman And Sailors to be of the highest quality and have the stamina to stick it out. Politics should have no place in the military but devotion to duty and country is the reason to serve.
In all aspects of the Military personnel must have the stamina and going power to succeed, along with the ability to help those that have been injured and or wounded. In other words if you are male, or female and cannot go twenty hours a day on minimum rest or food, stay away. Pick an MOS that suits you specific abilities.
Killing an enemy may sound glamorous to some, but take it from a person who has, it is not an easy thing, and it last s along long time.
The Military is an honorable and satisfying career path, but make sure it is what yo want out of it.

Encourage the youth to check out programs like Sea Cadets. The opportunities that have been brought forth for my children can help set the course for military potential and guide through potential careers.

To encourage the next generation to serve we need to show them how our military service has positively impacted our lives. I believe if we grow and be the best version of ourselves, encouraging and making a positive difference in this generations lives will be enough of an impact to those who want to join, to join. I often hear, “I was going to join” and it makes me think that if that person had someone in their lives to look up to in the military or out of the military who was encouraging and supportive, that person would’ve taken that big step in their lives and joined the military.
