I heard a SSG talking about his time in Korea, he mentioned the FRO and wont directly say what it was. Is this some CIA level classified FOB in Korea?

So the SSG was talking to a SGT about their time in Korea and their often miserable times in the FRO, and their adventures into the Ville. I'm just a very curious person especially since it was shut down recently.

SGT (Join to see) - was in Korea a long time ago. The ville was much different. Much different than the 80s when it was wild Wild West. FRO sounds like either unit slang for a place or the operational acronym. Likely some place north of the no smile line (former 2ID rear boundary). I can't think of a that starts with an F. Might be a section name. Forward Reconnaissance Outpost. There were little places here and there no one heard of unless you've been to it.
Doesn't line up with any of the terms we called Korea itself, usually puns on the Land of the Early Morning Calm
- land of not quiet right
- land of the early morning trash fire
- freedom's frontier
- down range (anything outside the wire)
You could, just a crazy thought, ask him. You are a PFC. It is an NCOs job to educate you in the ways of the world. Just sayin.

LTC Jason Mackay - thank you sir I did ask him and he said it was the nickname his unit gave to the "go to war" positions.
