Everyone has a favorite assignment location/command, and a worst. What/where/when are yours? What/who made it good or bad? How?

Kriegsfeld Specialized weapons depot (North Point) Like being on guard duty 24/7. Out in the middle of nowhere on top of a hill. Took an hour to get to the PX or to personnel. Hated by most. Very low reenlstment. If you l;ike nature, you might like it. Surrounded by trees. Not what I was trained for. More n 11B job than a 95B.

I'd have to say that both are the same. An 11 Bravo combat grunt at 18 years old in Vietnam.

My best assignment is a toss-up between USS Vincennes (CG 49) and USS Gridley (DDG 101). Great people to work with and a great chain of command. My worst assignment was USS Antietam (CG 54). It was the exact opposite of the other 2. the chain of command didn't care about anybody, people would try to stab you in the back just to get ahead, and my LCPO actually told me once that he would make it his mission in life to bust me down to OS2 (E-5) before he retired. He retired 2 months after I left the ship in 2005 and I went on to complete 20 years of service and retired as an OS1 (E-6).
