Never got to Bogalusa, but we drove all over the rest of that danged state, it seemed. LA JFHQ had no idea what to do with another MP company so we sat at the airfield for 5 days before getting our mission in BR. Crazy 3 weeks...

I was among some of the first troops to arrive. We flew there in a C17 and landed at BellChase Naval air station and basically figured out what to do next on our own because we had zero coms as we where the first element of our unit in the area.

Yep, I think that's where we flew into as well. C-130 out of CT. Fun ride, lol.

I thought Bogalusa was just over the line in Mississippi? Either way, I was there. Everybody we encountered was EXTREMELY gracious and very happy we were there to help.
Covington, LA was a different story though.

Bogalusa is in Washington Parish LA. I didn't spend much time in Covington though. I found the citizens of Bogalusa to be receptive, but they did have their criminal element that we dealt with in a big way.

Never made it that way, we were over at Belle Chase NAS for a while then moved down to the Port Sulphur High School, south of New Orleans and patrolled around the towns of Bootheville and Venice, two little tiny fishing towns. We found a lot of great locals that had weathered through everything or had come back, and they would fix us dinner some nights and the local "bar" where they always wanted to buy us a couple beers.
