I have been in the Army NG for 12 years and I find myself spending more time focusing on my military career than my civilian career as a GS employee.

I have been a SSG for six years. The NG promotes based off of open slots and it will be a long time before I am promoted.

My husband is active duty Army and enlisted. We have PCS'd twice and though it is not difficult to find a job, I feel like I am starting over each time or "waiting for the next person to retire" to advance. Almost the same situation I am in with the National Guard.

I believe going active duty may alleviate this issue.

Has anyone gone from enlisted National Guard to active duty Army Pilot?

All the information you will need is found on the USAREC website. You will need to complete a WOFT packet and be selected to attend WOCS then WOFT. You will also need a DA 368 releasing you from the national guard.

I transferred from the Reserve to active. Go to a local recruiter with your 368 and have them put the packet in for you. You will in-process at MEPS and ship directly to Rucker for WOCS. Good luck!

Just for clarification since its been a few years, do they still refer to Rucker as UCLA (ugly corner of lower Alabama)?
