The tuition to DeVry University (formerly known as DeVry Institute of Technology when I attended) to kick off my education to get my degree in electronics engineering. That first tri-semester took almost all I saved the last year I was in the Marines. After I got it all going I stashed my GI Bill payments to pay for subsequent tri-mesters.

SP5 Sheldon Behensky - Yep. The moved at some point to Campbell Ave. I think it might have been about 77? Did you have your graduation at Lane Tech High School?

SP5 Sheldon Behensky - That sucks! Even the technicians participated in the ceremonies with us.

Things were different then. I think that most of us were happy just to make it through all of the classes and get their certs. A lot of the people in my class like myself were Vietnam vets looking for something better.

Ditto, and our 39-acre farm is in southwest Missouri, about 4 1/2 hours northeast of OKC.

I purchased my first house, by myself; no help from anyone. I have always lived on base during my 30 year career in the USA. I cared for and raised two wonderful kids as a single mom and counted on wonderful base housing privileges often. Kids grew up, I retired, moved into a beautiful "A-Frame in the woods and am living happily ever after!

First big purchase I made was a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house on 1 3/4 acres for $98,000, 30 minutes from my hometown of Ashland Kentucky. Second big purchase was a new Chevy Express Limited SE conversion van for traveling.

My first big purchase after discharge from the Navy was a 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible for $3,641.00. It's color was Vermillion, and it came with an 351 Cubic Inch Cleveland Engine. I still have that car and drive it around town. I also have the original build sheet from the factory.
