After separating from the Marine Corps, the first major purchase I made was some years later, which was a house.

After finishing a three-year enlistment in the Army, I bought a brand new 1965 Triumph Spitfire rag and joined the sports car click. I thought I was a hot stuff driver, until I took a corner way too fast, and rolled it. Shortly after I totaled my Spitfire, I got married and moved on to the Station Wagon gang.

My biggest purchase after coming back from Vietnam and finishing my tour back in the states was to buy a new car after going back to work at my old job at western electric and enrolling at night classes

When I came back to the states and separated in the fall of 1980 I paid cash for a Dodge Colt. I'd saved the money via an allotment ! Mind you, that vehicle was a stripped down economy car that cost me $5200 in 1980!!!
