My first big purchase was a car which I needed to get to work. A little tough because after 4 years in the Navy I had no credit score. Tough to rent an apartment. Tough to get a minimum amout of furniture., i.e. a bed. Wanted to go back to school but put it off got tired of being spit at and called baby killer. Different times back then.

Once I retired from the Army in 1994 I joined the Government workforce as a Government Civilian and I traded in my Ford Festiva (Back seat was optional and I didn't get one) for a brand new Honda Accord Touring edition. It was so nice to finally drive a nice car. I was able to finally not live month to month after 20 years and going out to dinner was now a possibility.

A car. Had to get transportation to look for employment and to get to college to use my GI Bill before it ran out.
