Hello, so i was curious if anyone knows what we will be getting issued with the army "pinks and greens." I was notified that i will be getting issued the "pinks and greens" when i go to basic training next month. I was wondering what i would get with my pinks and greens. Will i be getting the garrison cap or the service cap? What about gloves...do they issue dress gloves? Your input would be very much appreciated!

You will get issued everything you need. I wouldn't stress about it too much because it doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things. Just focus on your fitness and being read to hit the ground running. Everything else will shake itself out.

Why are you wanting to know? Out of all the things to ask about Basic Training, this is what's on your mind? I'm not dogging you for the ??, I'm actually curious.

When I went to basic training, I was pretty excited to get my uniforms too. Go easy on the little guy... ;-)

Jacket
Trousers
Long Sleeve Shirt
Short Sleeve shirt
Tie
Socks
Shoes Belt
Overseas Cap/garrison cap
Rain Coat
Pair of black gloves.
You will also be issued a nametag, medal rack and medals as well as insignia.
You will not be issued these until you are well into Basic and almost ready to graduate. Do not worry about this until then.

The Army will provide you in initial issue what you need to attend all functions required by the Army usually at the lowest cost.

No pinks and greens it the Army Green Service Uniform. Or Army Greens. Older people refer to them as pinks and greens because it resembles the Vietnam era uniform but it is not.

Here's what I got issued after I transferred from the Marines:
The green coat (with rank attached. Had to get the service bars and unit patch separately)
Two sets of trousers
One short sleeve shirt
One long sleeve shirt
Garrison cover
Brown shoes
Brown socks
White undershirts
Green tie
Brown gloves
Green all-weather coat (the "Inspector Gadget" as we called it in the Marines)
Ribbons, regimental badge, and other things like the crushed service cap I bought separately. What I was issued suffices for the basic stuff, but you will have to pay extra for things like the crushed service cap, bomber jacket, Ike jacket, etc. if you want to sport that type of look. Don't worry about any of that right now! Graduate basic, graduate AIT, get to your unit, get promoted a few times, and then you ought to look into such things. Personally if you're gonna wear the bomber or Ike jackets you ought to pull the MacArthur look and have a tobacco pipe made out of a corn cob.

Stop saying "pinks and greens". Makes you sound like you're making a salad.
