Looking at moving out of either state or country (not permanent just as a job) to explore the world a bit and have experiences without my parents hovering and saying it's a bad idea. I was considering either going active or getting a tech job. What would be suggested? Currently have girlfriend but hoping before too much longer to pop the question. Want her to come with so which would be easier to have her with me?

I would suggest doing the more difficult thing.

I assume that you are national guard or reserves if you are a PFC and thinking about active duty. I would say that depends on your MOS. However, something that you need to consider is why you joined. Once the military has stopped benefiting you and your reason for joining, its time to move on. If you joined because you want school, once your contract is up, get out and go to college. If you joined for the medical benefits, your recruiter lied to you. If you joined just because you thought it was the right thing to do, then stay in if you want but make sure that the military is benefiting you while you are in. If its not, then consider reclassing to a different MOS.

RallyPoint members on here are has majority active duty or veterans. It’s easier for us to say active duty because we know how great of an experience it is to serve our nation and travel while doing so. With that being said, most will recommend active duty, so you will have to make that decision based upon which one YOU prefer. I’ve been with the Military well over 19years and I wouldn’t change a thing. My experiences I’ve encountered have been awesome and the many people I have come across have been irreplaceable. The Army is not only my career, it’s my extended family.....Good Luck with deciding and I hope you make the best decision for YOU....
