Best advice - Be aggressive

What I mean, most units don't know what you bring to the fight. Not only are you sims, you are knowledge management and you are also a planner. You need to make sure that you are more then just another staff officer. Fight for taking on as big a role as possible, get in on the planning, explain to anyone and everyone what you can bring to the fight. You can talk to a number of FA57s out there and they become disgruntled and angry about the job because they allow the unit to make them just another AS3, don't allow it to happen to you.

If you are not planning exercises or working in the KM, you need to make sure that you start talking to the right people in your organization and ensure they use you. Remember you control your career, if you let them use you as the USR guy, be prepared to get a COM and maybe have the potential to be concerned about being promoted.

You need to understand relationships between Sims, not operate or code them. You are a trainer, problem solver.....make the most options for your boss that you can. You are only an asset to your unit if you do the work you are given.....whether it is in you wheel house or not.
