Whatever happened to charging and executing traitors for treason - while also stripping them of citizenship, civil rights, and property?

*** PLEASE SEE UPDATE RE CITIZENSHIP RULES BELOW ***
This highly privileged Ivy League Guy volunteers and pledges his allegiance to an enemy military organization with flags and uniforms that seizes US, Allied, and Friendly Country Men, Women, Children, Weapons, Equipment, and Supplies . . . and uses these seizures to prosecute war and commit terrorist acts against our national assets and interests.

Why on God's Green Earth would anyone agree and/or anyone believe we could possibly agree he made a childlike mistake and should be granted a "do over" . . . not summarily sentenced?
Warmest Regards, Sandy
*** UPDATE *** I have been reminded US Loss of Citizenship Rules have changed over the decades. At one time it was enough for Native Born US Citizens to merely become allegiant to a foreign state (whether diplomatically recognized or not) - now it requires USDOS determination of intent to renounce - and intention has been found in very few cases indeed. Yaser Esam Hamdi - US born Taliban fighter - was captured - sent to Gitmo - and only offered release to the Saudi Gov on condition he agree to relinquish US citizenship and specific travel restrictions. However, for Naturalized US Citizens all bets are off. So my question was misleading in that the current citizenship rules are more constrained than I may prefer.

We should give him 2 options. 1, right to a speedy trial or 2, get him on the first plane to Raqqa and let him run so we can play a fun game of hunt to kill. (Option 2 requires securing a weapon to his person to ensure they identify him as an enemy combatant).

1LT Sandy Annala Doyou believe Valerie Jarret and her ilk could be implicated? Heavy duty political influence is being brought to bear in so many ways; most of them, just a little change and a small allowance for Muslim needs!
PO1 Tony Quinn
More Islamic, why wouldn't you return to a more Islamic nation such as Iran, that seems simpler than trying to change a Christian nation to become more Islamic. Thinking about the statement I believe that the goal of every Muslim is to change the World to be totally Islamic, to punish, kill or convert the non believers, isn't that what you mean Jarret, are we going play these silly games where you try and deny that Muslims want the world to be muslim. I think if you were a true believer you be true to your faith and wearing a burka and have your head covered, you are a wanna be
SN John Cossette
She's another one that should be tried and hanged for treason, right next to hussein obama!
SGT Damaso V Santana
SNOPE cannot be trusted, they need to be fact checked themselves, always a factory of Lies and always in the side of the left/progressive movement.
First, technically we have not declared war and this is operable with regard to treason.
"The Treason Clause applies only to disloyal acts committed during times of war. Acts of dis-loyalty during peacetime are not considered treasonous under the Constitution. Nor do acts of Espionage committed on behalf of an ally constitute treason. For example, julius and ethel rosenberg were convicted of espionage, in 1951, for helping the Soviet Union steal atomic secrets from the United States during World War II. The Rosenbergs were not tried for treason because the United States and the Soviet Union were allies during World War II."
Have you checked on how one can be "stripped" of their citizenship, natural or born?
It's not that I disagree with you but our options are really limited with regard to this POS.

MCPO Roger Collins - I'm not sure I can come up with anyone charged or convicted of treason since the Revolutionary War. Just because I can't doesn't mean such charges wouldn't be appropriate or Constitutional.

I stand corrected. Good article here if you have the time.

William West - Interesting take. So, war cannot be one-way. Waging war against the United States requires a US declaration. Ergo, no war since WWII has actually been a war. UH-kay.
