Good rule of thumb is the length of the school. The more the military pays to train the more valuable that training and your experience will be.

For a civilian afterlife, hard to beat avionics, helicopter repair, electronics troubleshoot, diagnostics.
Exacting, precision work.
Highly rewarding, good income.
If you are considering a career, leadership, command will yield great career opportunities following 20 years.
I was a communications tech and led to jobs that allowed me to travel all over Europ, Asia and the States.

If you are joining to make a great life in civie world, then you are joining or the wrong reasons. Thatbeing side, probably a technical MOS.

NOT JOINING!!! You serve to serve, not reaps rewards. I had SVN USMC grunts, get out become a bank VP, and came back into the 82nd ABN DIV as a combat medic. Education, unless you get a technical field is the key on civilian life.
