Last time I checked the dress uniform is authorized to wear at any formal event. If you know otherwise please inform me.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't a formal event. Trump wasn't wearing formal attire

Who cares, if you serve this beautiful Country you should be able to wear your uniform and ribbons earned. As long as the specific function and location are not disrespectful to the uniform, service members protect liberty and wearing a dam uniform one earns should be allowed. In addition maybe if more people wore their uniforms around more of our fellow country men and women would join or support the military.

I know it might be against regs, but if you think about it, you guys should be able to wear your uniform anywhere you want. Some rules are just stupid. This is one of them. If your worried about security then why be on this site for anyone to see who you are and your rank? Why post pics on facebook which is used by terrorist? Sometime people make rules that are stupid. It does not make you stupid for following orders , but I would say that it make us all stupid for not bring it to the attention of the leaders that this rule is stupid.

It's not a political rally, it's a town hall. There's a difference. Besides, if he's retired he can do what he wants.

It's not a political rally, it's a town hall meeting. His presence on the stage indicates he has some standing in the community. The candidate doesn't get to choose who sits where, and an event like this isn't political support or endorsement.

That is NOT a US Army uniform and that is NOT an officer. Wake up and smell the coffee people. Hollywood & politics do not abide by US military rules and regulations. Never have and never will as has been demonstrated for the last 7+ years by the current powers as commander-in-chief. By the way, rumour control has it that the forthcoming new OER and NCOER forms will include political correctness as a rating factor.

While in the Marines I didn't even vote. I signed the line to follow all orders within moral reason- not debating that now. I was there to do what I was told. Once out I resumed my place as citizen, voter, etc. I would have fought to the death for whoever was the elected Commander in Chief - and those in my chain of command. That warrant officer is a disgrace- I'm sorry. It's my opinion.

Correction..... That was a 2016 Town Hall Meeting on Fox...... Not a rally. There were MANY people in uniform asking questions there.

I'm amazed that it appears active duty service members are asking whether this is allowed. When I was in, every election time we would get official memorandum that service members are allowed to participate in the political process but they are NOT allowed to participate in a political rally in uniform.
