When can I contact branch to see what options I have for my next duty assignment?

Check your SRB. you should have a code on there with the letter L meaning that you are able to get put on assignment and also contact your branch manager and they will tell you when you should call back and what not.

Your best bet is to call them before they make that decision for you... Just my former professional opinion, but I’ve been retired since ‘00 so things have changed a bit! Don’t be afraid to call them. You might actually work with the NCOs making your assignment one day like I did! By also calling now, you might request if you can get a school enroute or post assignment well, and if a slot is open, guess what, free school without lost enlistment option... Play the game! At least that’s the way things used to work!

Most branch managers want Soldiers at one location for 36 months. Unless there is a need to move the SM due to mission requirements.
