My husband is in the army and I just swore in last week. I leave for basic next month and have been receiving various answers about when to enroll in the MACP. Some have said ask about it in basic or AIT and some have said you can’t apply until you’re at a duty station already. How do I increase my chances of receiving the same duty station out of AIT that he’s currently stationed at? Does anyone know the correct time and process? I understand being stationed together is not a guarantee but I would like to be as proactive as possible to increase our chances.

Dual mil here. Its easiest and BEST to do it in AIT. As SOON as you get there. It has to be done on BOTH sides. You will need to notify your platoon Sgt as soon as you get to AIT that you need to be enrolled in MACP. Your spouse will also need to put in a packet through his s1. The MACP only works if both of you are enrolled and put in necessary paperwork.

I just went through this--graduated ait in march. I had to notify my plt Sgt about MACP and also had to get hubs MACP paperwork in through his s1. The sooner you both get the paperwork in, the better.

It can be done after basic...essentially after you are officially a Sm eligible for MACP.

SGM, I didn't see anything in the reg that defines eligibility. "30 days after marriage or when eligible". My wife is joining so we are also looking for answers.

The way I read it is eligible meaning
Married to another soldier
And , well both are soldiers

I’d bet a Sm in initial entry training is not eligible
But once through basic you are

The catch might be, if you fail to
Compleate AIT and get a follow on assignment you might be held financially responsible for repayment of monies paid ... but that is just a WAG based on shady stuff I’ve seen the army do

Lol

My wife is in BCT now and I am in the process of joining. Does anyone have an idea how I should go about this or how long it would take to get stationed together?
