When I come down on orders to reclassify to 89A, how likely is it that branch would honor my request for a different assignment?

You won't get a request for a different assignment. 90 days prior to training start uih will come on assignment to your follow on location. The only thing you can do is update your ASK.
Also your new branch manager isn't the one who does the assignment, so they can't change it. Training follow on assignments are loaded by Reclass branch.

SPC (Join to see) not without a valid reason. Also, no you can't request it, your career counselor would have to. There are specific policies in place concerning follow on assignments that your career counselor and the analysts at Reclass branch have to follow.
