I cannot seem to find a solid answer after reaching out to my immediate resources. I am currently on recruiting duty in Orlando and will be going through training in a little less than a year for my new MOS. I am wondering on my training route once that time comes. I’ve heard mixed answers regarding this. How is the decision made and who makes the decision on whether or not I’ll do my training enroute or not? Thanks!

All MOS training is conducted TDY enroute unless it’s 20 weeks or longer, then it’s PCS length training.

You will be authorized to return to your home station to clear after the course; this is still TDY Enroute. TDY and Return is only authorized when the unit pays for it and there is a valid MTOE or TDA slot at the unit.

SSG Clint Underhill on your levy packet you will be required to choose to move your family ahead of time and clear, or return to clear after. The choice is yours and it will be added to your orders.

SSG Clint Underhill you can find the specific details in the Reassignment regulation under the section entitled TDY options.
