When I rejoin the military, will I lose my rank if I switch my MOS?

So I was talking to older vets at work. And since I’ve been out for 5 years they’re telling me if I switch MOS’s that I will lose my rank, is that true?

Honestly, I wouldn't stress it. At your grade, you'll have it back in twenty minutes. Those early couple of ranks come quick, fast and in a hurry.
A better MOS is a more long lasting and beneficial path to take.

I had to take a drop from SPC to PV2, but got back to SPC in 6 months after AIT. Don't get hung up on the rank if there is an option for a better job!

depends on a lot of factors. I had an 8 year break and had to take a reduction from E6 to E4 when I got back in.
