Yesterday, Oct 12, 2018, I was searching for the Sgt Reckless statue, a Marine Pack Horse during the Korean War. When I went into a housing office for directions, I asked how many family housing units were on base. The response was over 7,000.
The Sgt Reckless statue is in front of the Pacific View Event Center, behind the new Navy hospital.

CSM Charles Hayden - I have had the exceptional opportunity to visit many of our military bases throughout our country and Camp Pendleton is amazing.

Samantha S. Driving the length of Basilone Road which essentially goes from one end of the base to another is a favorite drive of mne.

CSM Charles Hayden - Very scenic route, I always look at Camp Pendleton as a city in itself.

Lt Col Charlie Brown In the 1980s? You probably saw some of the gazillion Quonset Huts that were used as Marine Barracks for years. They can still be seen on; “Gomer Pyle, USMC”.
