With the recent suicide from famous Comedian/Actor Robin Williams there has been a lot of talk on TV, News, and Radio about the incident. While listening in to a local radio station they were taking callers opinions on the topic. A Soldier called in and openly stated that he has been receiving counseling but implied from his dialogue that he was seriously thinking about taking his life. This sparked a lot of callers to the station offering support to this Soldier. The conversation on the radio station changed to an open discussion on suicide and a group effort help out this one caller.

All it takes is a little bit of help at the right time affect someone's life permanently. So I ask you all, when was the last time you sat down with your team and brought up this topic? If you cannot remember, then it has been too long.

Thanks for making that point, sir. We all need to discuss issues like this with our team - and not just with our subordinates.
