I remember receiving American Red Cross care packages and packages from my aunt. It was the thought that counted, so I liked and appreciated whatever was in them. I remember receiving playing cards and cookies.

In the Navy it was the Christmas packages of cards from kids. In the Army in Iraq it was Mom's homemade jerky and baby wipes!!

Last time I "deployed" it was for less then a month sitting on Incirlik AFB waiting to enter the theatre during Daddy Bush War. However, I imagine that I would really like books, current magazines, and good quality shaving stuff.

There were several companies (Bic) that put out care package goody boxes for soldiers at these staging areas, but the quality was fair-to-middle.
