When you're at your first duty station, and you have a 4-year contract, when is the earliest that can you request orders?

It all depends on your MOS and your staus of being promotable. I was stationed in Germany and 18 months I recieved orders for Korea. But SFC Boyd is also correct.

If first duty station is somewhere like Korea where it’s 2 years you can request about halfway through that time.

I’m stationed in Germany currently, just got here a week ago, and have 2 years years and 11 months left on this contract that was originally 3 years and 26 weeks. When can I switch duty stations, as I’m looking to make my way bank to the states. Thanks

You can drop a 4187 for transfer potentially at 24 months. You could contact your branch to request a harder, critical, more needs of the Army position at another location at 18 months. But you are Usually stabilized for the three years assigned unless you get promoted out, moved out in same command or get sent to school.
