I have heard the waiting list can be quite crazy, 1 month is actually not the worst I've heard though. Still a pain that you have to wait. Have you went to the Housing office? They can refer you to the RPP, they have a list of apartments that are available and alot of fees as well as a discounted rate. You can also do a search for JBLM RPP and there is an army link with the info. Couldn't get the link to work so didn't add it myself

Welcome to JBLM sgt. There is a nice place called Rainier Inn. I never stayed there personally, but I had family stay there a couple months ago. The prices weren’t too bad and it was a nice hotel.

JBLM was my last duty station, I got there in 2009 during a buyers market and bought a house for cheap.
Good luck nowadays with the housing shortage in seattle driving up prices in Tacoma

Where are some good places to stay at JBLM while I wait for my on-post home?

It was a 6 month wait last time I was there. I agree with others here, get a statement of non-availability and go off-post. There are several great neighborhoods within a reasonable distance from base that are affordable.

If you absolutely want to stay on base and just need temporary lodging then look at on-base lodging through IHG, or see if your unit, MWR, or the housing office have information on short term options. Be warned that waiting could lead to additional expenses such as storage of household goods or moving expenses. And this isn't even including the hassle of things like changing mailing addresses and utilities.

There are temp quarters. Or grab all in apartment within the per Diem rate. Happened to me many times. Fort Carson. As a SSG.

Ask yourself WHY you want to live on-post. There are a lot of good areas off-post that will take your money too.
