I have an ADA history question for you. A friend of mine's father was AAA during WWII. When he was in training at Ft. Bragg the unit was the 196th AAA, but when he got to England it was the 376th AAA. There is a lot of stuff out there on the 376th, but we can't find anything on the 196th. It's like it never existed. Are there ADA records of WWII units? I was pointed to the 8th Coastal Artillery Regiment because there was a 196th with them, but it doesn't seem to be the right unit.

All I can find mainly is the 8th Coast Artillery with a tiny mention of the 196th. Perhaps, the Artillery museum at FT Sill might have more info on the 196th?

That is on my list, but when I tried to contact them using their webpage, nothing happened. I have also contacted the Ft. Bragg 82nd museum and the curator there is trying to get some info. The problem is that the Ft. Bragg historian passed away and they haven't replaced him.
