The battalion master driver keeps all copies. I know this because I was one. Big issue is that most of the master drivers I knew didn't do so well at keeping records. And I believe they only maintain those records for only about 2 to 5 years. If they say they don't know that's probably the truth. Your best bet is to go yourself to the battalion master driver yourself to check to see if they maintained your info. But I'm sorry to say it may all be a waste of your time.

The answer is that you won't get a copy. They are maintained by the Battalion Master Driver. The Army no longer uses the ULLS system anymore. It is all online now. But the transition hasn't gone well if you didn't get a copy. You should have been given a DA 348 that has your qualifications on it. More than not they are not maintained very well. The Army is trying to do a better job at this. The issue that you are going to run into is that I don't believe it tracks historic data. Once you are purged from your unit's roster that should also drop you from their drivers roll and in turn knock out your record. If your battalion Master Driver has your 348 you can request that but more than not they don't really track those very well and it could be shredded by now. I would say that you are going to have a struggle to get this if you are even able too.

Every soldier is supposed to HAVE their DLs on their person, just as much as their CACs. If they don't have possession of it while driving, they're wrong. If they aren't furnished w/such, everyone whom says such is wrong, & can/will get in trouble.

SPC Michael C. - True but on the old form you had to get a new one every time you had a new commander. I was licensed on plenty of vehicles. Getting it updated was a nightmare. But I could see how if a person wanted a current copy how hard it could be.

Best bet, if that unit is still running SAMSE, they're supposed to keep historical data backups on disk for up to 2 years. If you and your unit meet that criteria, they can upload and restore a backup from whenever you were there, print your DA Form 348E and then simply restore a backup from that current date and it would be as if nothing happened. Now if they're running GCSSARMY, I'm afraid you're out of luck

Where can I get a copy of my Army Drivers License? I did not receive one when I left the Army. My battalion can't find my Smithfile.

You may be able to get a copy of your DA Form 348. Check w/ your records personnel.

May be a bit late but if it was added to your ompf you should be able to get it from Defense Personnel Records Information Retrieval System (DPRIS)

I'm going to be that guy... the term is SMIF file, not Smithfile (Service Member Individual File).
I'll admit I got a little chuckle though.

If you know a 92A in shop office somewhere. Ask them to hook you up real quick.

This comes from your last unit's Master Driver or somebody from your Maintenance Platoon who keeps everybody's military driving records like the NCOIC or a Senior Mechanic, not necessarily in your SMIF records which would normally be with Admin

Also if you mean the DA 348 then that's the form that you'd probably need and not the "license" that you carried around in your pocket which would be the DA 348-E

If the Master Driver, or the MotorPool Office can't find it, it'll either need to be recreated, or have to redo your training.

They used to be kept on the ULLS box. I am not sure if they would be able to reprint you one out. If that system is still even in use. I think the form was a DA 268 if I am not mistaken. Maybe add the group pool, or Motor SGT, or maintenance ... they would be the ones to ask.
