My dad was in the Navy in the 1970s aboard the USS Camden (AOE-2). Doing a google search for pictures of the ship I saw things like hats, patches, and coffee mugs related to the ship (which was decommissioned in 2005 and then scrapped in 2008). Where can I look to find things like that? His birthday is coming up and I'd like to try and get something related for him.

A quick Google search came up with this website: https://militarybest.com/index.html
and this one: https://www.priorservice.com/usscaaopr2.html
Between the two, you should be able to find hats, patches, and prints. Good luck.

In 10 minutes of browsing I found quite a bit between the two. Thanks!

Ebay is probably the best option. A second good choice would be here:

There is a posting requirement though before you can post in the sale/wanted area.

Great question.

The ship's decomm, so I'd start with E-bay, Etsy, places like that. That said, I've been looking for a replacement USS SHREVEPORT ballcap for some time without luck.

The mugs are more difficult, unless you have one "special made"...and these days, who knows what that entails? Ours (as I recall) were provided by an off-ship vendor working with the Fleet, kinda "Jostens" style (http://www.milart.com).

Where can you find memorabilia related to Navy ships?

A ship picture with her under way is a priceless gift but you want to make sure you get the right picture of her. A lot of ships were refitted and sent to Vietnam for service. My uncle's ship the USS Chicago had different guns on her decks and then they were scrapped and ASROC missiles where mounted on her decks. http://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/uss-camden-aoe-2.html

I just looked up USS Camden and found there were two such ships named after the city of Camden, New Jersey so you need to double check which ship you are looking for. I did find key chains, lighters, cups, and the other assorted items for sailors who were shipmates on the USS Camdem....good luck!

There seems to be a reunion coming for CAMDEN in July 2018. There are several FACEBOOK sites for the ship. There most likely is some sort of association or alumni organization who is organizing the reunion. Get in contact with them. They may have a 'ships store'

Unfortunately my pockets aren't very deep so I couldn't fund an expedition of that magnitude.
