My son always told me to go to BBC's and Al Jazeera's websites if I want the "non-politicized" truth. They're my go-to. I can't ask my son, he's deployed. And as I am no longer an active duty member of the military, I have no contacts. Any suggestions?

What information, exactly, are you trying to get? There is all kinds of news sources. For overseas, I like to use Stars and Stripes. They have a website.

My son is in the Sand Box and when I hear news snippets on my local news, I want somewhere to look to get the rest of the story. Without the political rants. I can't just call him. I do believe in "No news is good news" but, I like to double check. Thanks for the info!!

PO3 Sandra Gomke - news releases from CENTCOM and the Joint Headquarters for the Operation . Before ISAF went away their press releases were hyper accurate...I know because they used to hound current ops for the information.

OIR Press Room: https://www.inherentresolve.mil/Media-Library/News-Releases/

CENTCOM: https://www.centcom.mil/MEDIA/PRESS-RELEASES/

CENTCOM has Freedom Sentinal and Resolute Support in Afghanistan in their Area of Responsibility.

For ops in Europe: https://www.eucom.mil/media-library/press-releases

Aforementioned sources are terrific. I would recommend Open Source Center as well. It is a CAC-accessed government site that has three-letter and other official news releases and assessments about specific areas tailored to your interest.

I would say your best bet is to do some window shopping on YouTube Channels that offer "non-biased" reporting. One channel in mind is the "PhillyD Show" but he mainly reports on hot button stuff that is currently in the media without the dramatic spin of regular news outlets. I cant point you to a specific channel in regards to "Overseas news", but if its a thing, it will definitely have a YouTube channel.
