SGT (Join to see) - I call on either of my 15- or 17-yr old kids. Their help is quick, accurate, and FREE!

At least you'd rather ask when you know you have no idea than destroy something more trying to figure it out yourself. You seem to be a lot easier to deal for help desk techs.

Another piece of serious advice, if you reside in the barracks, & experiment with your own private, personal network, check with your CO, 1SG & Base Police/Security for all necessary permissions&restrictions. This part is a must; protect yourself. But learn as well.

I am fairly self reliant after 31 years as a Regional Manager for a global systems Integrator, the largest, Dimension Data was for 10 years. I worked for 2 others then stated my own company. If I get stuck on an unusual problem I go to http://www.techimo.com. Very robust site and the upside is a personal chat forum where you get to know the key players.

I'm another fan of TIMO . . . If they can't answer the question, find the problem, or recommend the fix, nobody can. I'm a retired Sr. Tech on the civilian side and they were my go to . . . as well as Rick's.
