I was a boot on Staff Duty at Ft Wainwright. Having no clue what the hell threat con DELTA was when the BDE Staff Duty called telling me to lock things down. It was like 4 a.m so I was a little less than on point. Then got yelled at by my CSM for having the TV on, lol.

I was in JROTC in High School, getting my Uniform fitted at Fort Indian Town Gap. I remember my buss driver going crazy, screaming we're going to war. Then seeing Tanks roll by. 2008 I joined Active.

I was on my way into CTK at Pope AFB, when all of a sudden someone came running by me to turn the TV on.  We had no idea what was going on.

On that day I was in NYC, assigned to a USAR unit in Long Island. By the end of the day we were mobilized for security operations around New York.

I was on leave staying with my mother-in-law and on the way to visiting Ft. Bliss when the bus driver told me I had to get off before the gate because the site was closed for the first time in a long while.  While I walked to my old unit there there was no one left that I remembered so I went back to mother-in-laws house and watched the news there.  I caught some of the coverage of the Twin towers burning and called up my platoon sergeant to find out what this was all about and to leave my number in case I needed to catch a flight back to Campbell.  He gave me the news that it was an attack and that it wasn't just the towers but the Pentagon as well.  While I got to finish my leave in El Paso the rest of time at Campbell was spent on alert until I eventually ets'd in February.

I was a PFC at Ft. Hood, with the 544th Maint. Battalion, I was in the middle of doing PMCS on an LMTV.  I will never forget when CWO came out and said " y'all need to come inside their is something you need to see."

I was on my way to class, it was my first day of high school, and I just saw parents, in their pajamas, coming in to get their children. In the principle's office they had just rolled out the tv, when the second plane hit, and everyone in the hallway, and room went dead silent. I remember that my bedroom window faced due west, and I was able to see the smoke from the towers every time I looked outside from my room. We lived 50ish miles away from Manhattan at the time.

I was paying my insurance in Kitzingen Germany.  The owner had the door locked so I knocked and he came in and was talking about watching planes fly into buildings in NY.  I thought he was watching some kind of movie.
