I was working as a registered nurse at a hospital here in Northeastern PA about 30 minutes by air from NYC. After the first plane hit, we thought it was a terrible accident. I turned on the TV for our patients to see it just as the second plane hit. Within an hour they called for disaster alert for our hospital to start taking patients from NYC. My unit was never really figured into the hospitals disaster plans so I formed my own immediately, called administration & got their okay. I transferred all of our patients out to other places & we waited for the incoming patients. The facility only took about 2 patients from NYC. There just weren't anymore.

I was on the way to Korea, I didn't know what was going on until we landed and saw the security level increased at all the installations. When I got to my unit I heard what happened and was locked down for the first two months I was there.

I was stationed at Eglin AFB, FL, 46th TW, 46th MXS E&E Backshop, when we were attacked on Sept 11, 2001. It seemed like a normal day until the radio station said the World Trade Center was hit. Not knowing what was going on. We listened as the 2nd Trade center was hit, then we heard the Pentagon was hit. We went to Delta right afterwards. Then the order for all non-essential personnel were told to go home. That included us in the TW. I will tell you, that was the most nail biting experience I have been thru.

I was sitting in a class for automotive technology. I was in the Michigan National Guard at the time. Still remember gas prices going up over 11 dollars a gallon at the gas station across the street.
