I was in Camp Eagle, Korea. I had walked down to work to call HRC to discuss my next duty assignment. I was explaining to my branch manager that Fort Campbell was a better decision instead of the planned Fort Bragg. He put me on hold then came back 10 minutes later and told me something important was happening and he had to go. I was sooooooo mad that he cut me off and wouldn't talk about other options. I got back to my room and my roommate told me to sit down and watch the TV.

I saw the first tower on fire and saw the second plane hot the 2nd tower. I found out about the pentagon getting hit and immediately felt like an ass for thinking my branch manager was blowing me off.

I was at the Veterans Administration in Washington DC. We were evacuated to Lafayette Park and release after an hour and ordered to go home. I lived in Baltimore at the time, it took 9 hours to get home that day.

I had been retired since 95, but called HQ Marine Corps and offered to go back on active duty. Even be a recruiter if it would help free up Marines to flesh out manpower. Was told that they were not going to call back retired, at that point anyway, but thanks anyway. One of the few times in my Marine life when I was truly pissed at the Corps.

I was Stationed on the USS Tarawa out of San Diego California. I was in the second day of EMT School and we had just finished taking our first test that I actually passed. The professor turned on the TV and it was the plane crashing into the first tower. Being Military Police, I immediately called my command and I was recalled to the ship for Port and Report(Starboard). We went into delta immediately and since we were in Dry dock we were the only ship to not get underway. I was living on a berthing barge at the end of the pier. After that they put a Stop loss on my rate and no MA's could get out of the Navy. I reenlisted shortly after for 6 years and here I am at 17 now. Long time ago but I remember that day very clearly. I never did get to go back for EMT School. I do miss being on a Ship though!!!!

I was 16 years old and a senior in high school sitting in my homeroom class on 9/11. As soon as we walked in the class the teacher had the TV on and we watched as the 1st tower burned and shortly after we watched as the 2nd plane crashed into the towers. We were all in tears and couldn't believe what was happening. I joined the military directly after my 17th birthday in 2002.

I had just came back from Basic. I went between me junior and senior year of High School in the DEP Program. I was walking into my JROTC class where our LT had the TV turned to the news.

I was stationed in Hawaii getting ready to conduct a mortar live fire and was informed about the twin towers. I told my PSG about it, turned on his portable tv and we watched in amazement.

I was in Yokota, Japan and it was about 10p at night getting ready for bed when my neighbor rushed over and asked if my wife and I were seeing what was going on.  We went to his house astonished at what was developing with the second plane hitting the towers - live!  That was encouragement to finish my degree and attend OCS.

I was stationed with an unit at Fort Meade, Md. It was a strange and scary day. My wife worked downtown, close to the Pentagon. Didn't hear from her for several hours.

I was in the field shooting artillery in Fort Bragg when we heard the news through FM radio.  We all thought someone was playing a joke.  Once they confirmed it was true I was shocked and in awe.  I am from NY and went to H.S. a couple of blocks away from the World Trade Center.
