I was on my way to school.  However, this event changed my life and I have decided to do something meaningful with my life.

TASK FORCE FALCON...Camp Able Sentry...woke up from afternoon nap just in time to see the second tower come down...when I got the call that the towers fell...my response was (pardon the expression) "quit bullshittin that is not funny...those buildings are designed to take a beating from the weather" so imagine my shock to come to coherence turn the tv on just in time to see the second tower give way and come crashing down....I still remember it like it was yesterday

I was on the hand-to-hand combat course during basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  I remember the good ole' days of serving in a peace-time Army (for about three weeks).

I was on KP during BCT at Fort Benning.  Heard the old ladies in the DFAC talking about it but I didn't pay it any mind, then later on the commander held a formation and pulled up the action on the big screen.  He gave a speech and whatnot about war and how real it was, etc etc. Then he said 'If you want to quit, step forward.'  A whole string of dudes started lining up, but I figured I signed on the dotted line, time to man up and see it through.

I was actually stationed at Fort Bragg at the time but was home on leave after my divorce from my ex-wife. I remember getting some cash at the ATM in Adel, Iowa before going to the NAPA auto parts store to get some oil and oil filter for my truck before I made the trek back to Bragg.  A guy at the ATM said, " hey did you hear about someone flew a plane into the World Trade Center?" I thought really very little of it thinking that it was probably just an accident involving a small plane that might have just scraped it or something like that. It didn't occur to me that we were under terrorist attack until I got to the store and was in the checkout line when I saw the second plane hit the second tower.  I quickly went back home and watched the footage all day on Fox News.  My parents and I went to church that night for a prayer service.  I won't ever forget that tragic day when our Country changed forever.

I was in Germany stationed in Vilseck working at the DFAC that day and was told what was happening and rushed out to see it on AFN. We then had to call over to the unit to let them know where we were at. Then we had to go over to the unit and sign in as they called an alert for everyone in the 94th Engineer Unit.
