I was in between enlistments, (I got out in 7/99-12/01) and I was working at the Supermax prison in Nevada. I got up to go to work and had no idea what was happening until I was told by inmates. I reupped that December, and reported to my unit in January.

I remember watching Fox and Friends as I was getting ready to head into the office and the second plane hit the WTC 2. Got to the office as was given the strangest directions I think I ever had while in the Army,

Stationed at Ft. Bliss, just finished a road march. Made it back to the barracks in time to see the 2nd plane hit. That was a crazy.

I was a senior in high school. I was in government ironically. We went to the media center after the first plane had hit the first tower and the one plane had hit the Pentagon. We got there just as the second plane hit the second tower. It was them that I knew we were going to war. I decided to join the military right then and enlisted a few months later.

I was at Fort Lewis, WA. in the process of jumping our TOC when the Chaplain came in and said a plane had crashed into the WTC. I got on the phone to my wife to see what was going on and readied the HMMWV for my Maj. and I to go to BDE TOC for briefings and figure out what we were to do. Once there we huddled around a small TV and watched the second plane crash and saw the rest of the stories. I was then tasked with contingency plans to get the BDE back in from the field if needed. Spent a lot of time on my cellphone coordinating with Corps HQ to get us in and to get our Bradley's positioned around the base.

I had watched the news that morning and then headed to the recruiting office where I worked to read up on what just happened in NY. My station commander called and asked if I had seen the news. I replied with yes. Then he asked what I was wearing, which then I replied with the Class B uniform. He told me to go back and change into civilian attire. So I did and all three of us there just sat in the office answering calls from veterans to come back in to people outraged with the event. Only a few people stopped in our office to say how angry and sad they were about 9/11. None however, mentioned they didn't ever want to join, yet they wanted someone else to go overseas to do the work.

Watch that "old" business. The "wise" are advising on current solutions. 9/11 I was doing the same thing I did on April 19, 1995 in Oklahoma City.

"(Old Guy/Gals I know...)?" I doubt that very seriously.

1. Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building 1995.
2. The Pentagon 2001.

I was a TPU Reservist that was coming home from working 3rd shift when the announcement came over the radio. I got back up to my apartment just in time to see the 2nd plane hit. My first phone call was to my reserve unit at Ft Knox and told to just stand by for further instructions as everything was chaos.

I was 12 in the seventh grade. All the classrooms had their TVs on watching it happen. I joined five years later.
