I was in my office at the prison, Lorain Correctional Institution. The Chief of Security burst into my office and ordered me up the Warden's office immediately. On the way up he told me a plane had the world trade center. I got there soon enough to see some replays then the 2nd plane hit. I looked at the Warden and told him we just went to war with whoever just did this. 5 years later I was back in boots on my way to Afghanistan.

I was a SPC on leave from Hawaii. I was in North Carolina leaving out the house to go to the airport to return to Hawaii. As we were leaving the house the first plane hit the tower. I told my wife " we probably won't make it back to sign in". I call my commander and wake her up as it was around 0200 in Hawaii and said "ma'am, I don't think I'll be able to make it back on time". I told her to turn on the tv. I ended up getting an extra five days of leave and when we finally flew back to Hawaii, there were only five people on the plane.

In my printing/graphic design class. There was a t.v. in the corner near my work area. I remember thinking that it didn't seem right, what could cause a plane to fly into a building? A few minutes later I watched the second plane do just that. I went home and tried to rationalize it. To be honest I was pretty scared about what might happen next.

Was in the KY ANG. Infantry team leadr With Bco 1-149th (m). At the time I was working for 84 Lumber and was off loading a 1-ton dump bed of 12" drywall into a new construction home. Went to turn the truck around to off load the opposite side and turned the radio on as the 2nd plane hit the second plane hit the second tower.

4 months later was in Belgium pulling force protection duties in Chevries, Belgium. SACEUR airbase.

I stood on last day of the military service at Fort Sam Houston. I saw news at home along with family. Of course, I became officially retired on July 31. I was not recalled to duty. I talked to some people at old unit. But they stayed in place at XVIII ABC, HQS, Fort Bragg, NC.

I was in 9th grade (Freshmen in High School) and I was in class at the time and they turned on all the TV's and we all sat and watched the news in shock and awe...
