Which is better, the Air Force Security Forces or Marine Military Police?

So I've been looking at Marines for a while now and wanted to join as an MP. I just now learned about the Airforce security forces and that looks nice too. I was wondering what is better or are they just the same? I also heard about the Airforce automatic e3 rank if you sign up for 6 years. That's seems like a good contract.

Fahim Khan provided you don't step on your crank, you'll be an E3 fairly quickly anyway. 6 years before you can Reenlist or ETS is limiting. If you do a four year contract, you can reenlist and possibly be offered something or move on. Otherwise they've got you wherever for 6 years. Not a big deal if you like it. If you are unhappy with duty, location, or AFSC you're kind of stuck.
The Marine Corps appears to move E1-E3 faster than the USAF.
What certification comes with each? If one or the other gets you POST certified, that could be a tie breaker
Here's what it boils down to: what do you want to be when you grow up? Either pursuit is worthy. If you enlisted in the Marine Corps first, you could enlist in the USAF later without going through basic training. It doesn't work the other way around.
SMSgt Thor Merich can you weigh in on this?

Fahim Khan - Be aware that I don't know of any major civilian police departments that accept military experience as qualifying you for their department. Most will make you attend their academy, although military service is generally worth preference points.
Marine MP's attend the Army 31B MP school at Ft Leonard Wood, although they are dropped in mid cycle since the Army 31B is one of the One Station Unit Training MOS's. The Air Force Security school is at Lackland AFB in Texas, which is also where Navy MA's (Master at Arms, Navy's version of MP) train. They do not train together.

It depends on which branch of service you ask. I would say Marine MP or 5811 is good...plus you are a Marine.

You keep asking similar questions. Are you expecting different responses?

My last question was about being a cop after the military. This question is about which military branch is best. I dont think their similar questions.

Keep your e-3 pay grade. The top of the class for 5811's are usually offered follow on school to become dog handlers. Be the best Marine possible get promoted to Sgt and when your initial contract is completed you can Lat move to CID. Find somewhere that you may have a chance to be the equivalent of a detective in under 5 years. Or go be a senior airman standing gate guard for 6 years.

If you are just looking to be a police officer than go through an academy and become one. You have to want to become a Marine before deciding what MOS you want to be. I have never served in the Air Force; however, I have served with top quality Airmen.
Speaking as a former Marine Corps Recruiter, I would send you packing once you mentioned what you want as we are interested in people who want to become Marines first. The MOS alone will not define who or what you can aspire to be once your time in uniform is up.

So your telling me people join the Marines just to become a cook? Your probably one of those recruiters that tricks 17 year olds to sign a contract and then having them end up in a random job. Most people who joins the Marines joins because they want a stepping stone. Yes I want to become a cop but I also want to become a marine.

You misunderstood my advice. Your questions sound like someone searching for a job as a police officer not an occupation as a servicemember. Never in my career did I trick anyone into joining the Corps. Yes, people do join to become cooks, mechanics, firefighters, MP's, and many other specialities. The one thread that binds is that they are all Marines first and foremost.

Fahim Khan - My Marine Corps is not a stepping stone. It is an Elite establishment founded on Honor, Courage, and Commitment held together by an esprit de corps like no other. If you want to be a cop go to the police academy, if you want to serve your country while performing Police like duties join some other branch. If you want the Challenge and reward of being a United States Marine sign on the dotted line, and request a 5800 field series MOS.

SSgt (Join to see) I dont want to use it as a steeping stone. I said some people use it as a stepping stone. However I rather not get stuck with a job that I dont like. I dont think anyone wants that. The reason I want to be a Marine is because I want to be in the military not because I want to be a cop after. I could just go to the academy straight after college but I rather be in the military and while I am in I dont want to get stuck with a job i dont like. No one wants that.
